It's been wayyy too long since I've last written a blog. Sometimes in college you have four exams in one week, and that's what consumes most of your time and energy when that happens.
Just to let the readers know, I will be writing at least once a week, so check back in occasionally if you wish to hear some crazy crazy stories of suite 340.
In our suite, we have a tradition of getting hyped for the daily Top ten best plays on Sportscenter, which usually comes on ESPN around 1:00ish AM. If one person is in the common room watching TV and the Top Ten comes on the screen, they immediately yell "Top ten!" and the rest of our suite comes running. It's kindof funny. The other day I tricked everyone... everyone came running and noo top ten. They were mad. But I got a kick out of it.
Since we've been away from the blog for quite some time, I'm going to count down the top ten moments our suite has had since the last time we wrote to you...let's see this should be interesting. Enjoy it!!
Numbers 10-7 coming this night, with 6-1 coming mid next week!
#10 - As a suite, we have a problem with yelling at people as they walk by our doorway. I don't know why we do this, we just do. Must be the testosterone overload. But one night, Drew and myself were sitting in the common room and we heard some loud laughing down the hall. Of course, Drew yells "Can you shut the **** out there?". Turns out to be our RA from the 2nd floor of our dorm. Surprisingly, she just kept walking. Very nerve-wracking for both of us, but it was quite the thrill.
#9- One night, Taylor got a little bit tipsy. If you know Taylor, you know that he is the biggest light weight ever. Just kidding Taylor. But seriously. You're a light weight. Anyways, if you have seen the video on Youtube of the little kid dressed up as a zombie and saying "I like turtles", we love it in our suite. We always say it. But Taylor this night, with all seriousness thinking about this video, said "I like squirrels". Idiot. You had to be there, but was hilarious. Obviously not that funny or it would be lower than 9, but still pretty good.
#8- Viewer discretion advised. As a suite, we have a problem with putting things in microwaves that should not be in microwaves. From ping pong balls which swell up, to bags of chips which shrink to a miniature size, to CD's, lightbulbs, we find anything to experiment with. Try it. Next time you live with 5 other dudes. Girls wouldn't think of it as awesomely cool.
#7- The #7 best moment has to do with the members of suite 340 who are in Jake Grohs' leadership class on Tuesday/Thursday. Me, Sam, Kyle, and Nate are all in this class, so you can imagine the fun we get out of it. But the best part about being in this class is the walk we get to do on the way back after class is over. Recently, we talk to people as they walk by by calling them funny names. For example, we call guys Fred, Ernest, George. So when one guy walks by we all yell "Hey! There you are George! Where have ya been? We've been looking for you." and other crazy stuff like that. It's soo awesome to see the surprised and quizzical looks from their faces. If you don't think this is funny, I hate you.
Well there's the first part of our top ten best moments of the past two weeks or so. Check back in mid next week to see #6-#1. Should be great.

Sunday February 7th
Watched the movie John Q tonight in the room. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. If you've seen the movie 7 Pounds, these two movies are very similar. There are some amazing things in both movies that all of us can learn from....
Great win by the mens basketball team over Clemson today! Cassell was rockin'...up next for the Hokies is at N.C. State Wednesday night. Should be tough, as any ACC road game is difficult to win. Halfway through the ACC regular season schedule and the Hokies stand at 5-3. If they match that the second half, we should be dancin'!
Superbowl Sunday later today...should be a great game...I'm goin' with the underdogs and Mr. Drew Brees. The city of New Orleans could use a victory.
One more day to enjoy before classes start back up...another long week, but good news is we're in college...
An interesting blog about our suite will be coming tomorrow, so stay tuned...
Much love from suite 340,

Getting to know us

From left to right, here are the guys you'll be learning about when reading our blog----Kyle, Drew, Yours Truly, Sam, Taylor, and Nate (he's last because he's black).

February 5, 2010
After finishing the movie Shawshank Redemption last night, our suite went into a total frenzy. For those girls out there that don't know, when many guys get together in one place, guys are just straight dumb. And that's what happened last night probably around 10:30 or so. An overload of testosterone. And it got out of hand really quick; but this is the case for most of our nights in suite 340.
With 8 or so guys in the room, we thought it would be a great idea to throw two footballs around the room at the same time. Our only rule was you couldn't throw it to the person next to you. You might not think of this as dangerous and out of control, but it was. With two TVs, an Xbox, two windows, and a bunch of trash on the floor (we never take our trash out), it was not a good idea. Believe me.
Drew was the man who escalated our activity. He thought it would be a great idea to throw a football off the wall parallel to both TVs. Of course you can imagine what happened next. The ball hit right in the middle of Taylor's TV, changing it quickly to a greenish color before changing back to normalcy. The room immediately erupted into laughter, because that's what guys do; they laugh when things almost get broken or get broken. I don't know why, but it's true. It's awesome.
The next ten minutes erupted into even more craziness and destruction. I punted a football in the ceiling of our room, knocking down the plastic covering, which almost hit three of the guys who were sitting on the couch. Sam had to jump on Jason's back to put it back to place.
Some of the guys continued to punt the footballs, but they moved out into the hallway. Probably a good idea. Or was it? The third floor of PY might notice something standoutish missing when you look up at the ceiling.
After this the night slowed down a little bit... some interesting things happened after this point, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me to put it in this blog. I'll start to man up and write everything if more people start following!
I expect much the same activities this evening due to all of the snow we've received over the past few days... and I can't wait. Probably up to a good 12 inches at Tech.
Many of us will be heading over to the Tech/Clemson basketball game. Students can get in for free, so you should probably be there too.
Hope everyone is doing great, enjoy your day, and keep reading our blog.

Living with 5 other dudes causes for some crazy and hilarious things to happen pretty much on a daily basis. Drew, Nate, Kyle, Sam, and Taylor mixed together, along with myself, is dangerous. But in suite 340 of Peddrew Yates at Virginia Tech, we have a special bond that no one will ever understand. I'm excited to have the opportunity to bring you the outrageous things that people say and do in the "life of a college student." So those high schoolers out there, here's a little preview of what's to come. College students who have boring roommates, here's what you're missing. Although not all days will be funny (and some may be serious), the majority will be!
Welcome to the life of a college student. Sit back and relax and read our blogs!
